Idea Practice

Ideas and Brainstorming

As for an art student and have been for a number of years now, I can tell you it is quite an importance to always begin a project by brainstorming your thought processes and ideas and seeing where your mind takes you, after viewing a project brief.

Creating brainstorms and coming up with ideas is good to see your personal development later into the project. In way you can imagine it being a scientific breakthrough. Take this pandemic for example, scientists, chemists and researchers etc, they don't just wave a magic wand to help find a vaccine, as sad and depriving as that sounds... they have to begin their research mission by brainstorming key words, key facts, some may doodle, read facts and opinions to help them get to the core to their breakthrough. So art is like science in a way and creating brainstorms and ideas generation all ideas come from the mind and research to make a record on your ideas I feel is important for one, safe keeping, so you'll remember the ideas you came up with, and shows your planning processes in artwork, by showing the stages of personal development for how you get to your final outcome- how you have made the scientific breakthrough and it is most importantly for individuals, because you can easily look back on a brain storm to help you if your mind is blank or if you have ran out of ideas and people can understand your storyline/concept for the final outcome.

Here is a dictionary definition for brainstorming below:-

"Brainstorming is a group creativity technique by which efforts are made to find a conclusion for a specific problem by gathering a list of ideas spontaneously contributed by its members. ... All the ideas are noted down without criticism and after the brainstorming session the ideas are evaluated."

This link below shows you more detailed definition for Brainstorming and the importance for Brainstorming:-

So for this entry, is about my brainstorming and thought processing, Brain storming is a good visual map for planning and conveying one's thoughts and ideas for a future project, it is a rarity to not create a brain storm of some kind or write notes and a draft before creating the final piece. Some of you may call a brain storm a Spider diagram, a mind map or simply just a rough plan, whatever you wish to call it- it will help in the beginning of a project.

My Brainstorm 1

As for this brainstorm above, I have written down some basic ideas I came up with, taking notes from the presentation Anne gave to us on the Zoom call accompanying that I have created a couple of doodles representing COVID 19 with simple symbolic imagery with key words and key facts that happened with COVID 19 in which I thought would help me come up with more ideas for this project- weather or not I follow these ideas though out the project or not, its still good none the less to keep a track record of ideas development.

Brain Storm 2

This brain storm here is further developed, more with my note taking and has more of my thought processes. Most of which is referencing Ideas for cerise's of posters I came up with after looking back at Brainstorm 1, weather I create what I plan to or not- it still conveys ideas I have thought about in the duration of this project and therefore still matter- some of the ideas maybe further developed and some maybe dismissed or used as a baseline for my progression.
