Summer Project 2020

David Shrigley This artist was recommended to me through Paul  at the very beginning of the summer project, because I created a piece of Motion Graphics (A Greyscale Gif) I created this using just Line drawing and my work reminded him of David Shrigley's work. As well as the fact his work is very playful and quite lounge and cheek and this is something I wanted to try and achieve in my work as well. Instagram Artists This entry is just on some artist Instagram that Paul recommended me sometime ago during a chat on Slack and Instagram, which helped me find some inspiration for my own work when I had some artist block earlier in the summer project here's the examples of Instagram Artists and their work below.     Problem Press's work With this work- I found the typography quite inspiring with how it is presented and how the typography is arranged like the pages on the righthand side. Morag  Myscough I wanted to Feature this contemporary artist Morag Myscough  because she created some Billboard work for the NHS for the frontline workers and I'd like to create some imagery like this supporting the frontline workers using colourful typography created in this similar aesthetic to Myscough using the more contemporary appearance. Alan K itching After my Zoom call with Paul the other week, I had a suggestion to look at the work from Alan Kitching, whose work is very typographic and predominately type based. He suggested him to me after seeing my Typographic Sample booklet I created where I experimented with Typography and done art solely on type and suggest I try design concepts similar to Alan Kitching's only difference with his work is his work is done on the print press where as my typographic art has been done on Adobe Illustrator which Illustrator is good for typography because of the cleansliness of the edging of the text and I like the aesthetic of digital art, it makes my work. look sophisticated. Stay Safe, Stay Sane Stay safe, stay sane is a website full of COVID 19 inspired Posters, which I came across the other day after having a Zoom call with Paul as I was struggling to find any source of inspiration for the rest of this project due to having a brain fart and artist block, which is never fun. Typographic Website This website was suggested from Paul through a Zoom call at the near beginning of this project. Jessica Walsh Jessica Walsh is a Graphic designer and photographer from New York.  Her work is very current day and very  contemporary. I have grown to like her work more and more- the more I understand this Graphic Designer- she has some typographic work, some really well thought out poster designs, she is a graphic designer who in which has inspired my some of the imagery and design concepts I have recently started to create. Artist & Graphic Designer 3: Corita Kent Corita Kent, (aka   Sister Mary Corita )  was an artist best known for her screen printing work, which you'll find in a gallery in East London in Kings cross: in the House of illustration. Her work became well known in Swinging 60"s where her work was quite political and covered current affairs about trending topics. Shephard Fairey Shephard Fairey is an American street artist, Graphic designer and illustrator, he is best known for the piece: Hope- a poster made in 2008- when Barack Obama was running for presidency for the second time.  Hope: Shephard Fairey This piece of Graphic Design is very political orientated and it has a strong ethic for propaganda and democracy and for persuasion and promotion, in a political way of marketing. Selling the iconic president to be. This poster represents the hope to pick the best man for president. This design was designed back in 2008, in which Fairey felt there was hope for Barack Obama to lead the country. The target audience is mostly aimed towards the American citizens because Obama is an American president and Fairey is trying to create a publication in a simplistic way of trying to persuade  it’s  audience to standby Obama. Alfred Leete & James Montgomery Flagg These are the artists who have created the "We need you" posters and the "Your country needs you"    I had this idea for a poster  series after looking at these examples of poster designs has influenced and inspired me to create a mini series of posters, based on the frontline workers because of COVID 19.  These two artists and their poster work has a very similar message and aesthetic and both propaganda posters and trying to send a message across trying to persuade you to join the army and to help fight the war and save their countries.
