Morag Myschough
Morag Myscough
I wanted to Feature this contemporary artist Morag Myscough because she created some Billboard work for the NHS for the frontline workers and I'd like to create some imagery like this supporting the frontline workers using colourful typography created in this similar aesthetic to Myscough using the more contemporary appearance. This is partly where my inspiration for my COVID 19 Billboard design come from for that competition, with the use of colour.

This piece automatically has my respect after seeing what the purpose was and who this piece was aimed towards, Seeing as this piece on a bill board was a special tribute to frontline workers whilst going through this pandemic, I would say the target audience is most defiantly aimed to the NHS workers national health services, policemen, postmen, retail workers etc but mostly to the NHS , who I have a strong admiration and a lot of respect for as they're going through a tough challenge to save lives which they do on a daily basis but at crisis point because of this pandemic, of many people at one hit. Therefore I want to bring this into my work.
This piece is abstract. I love how the words are striking out in 3D, so the yellow text stands out showing more legibility. I really like the colours of the stripes behind the yellow type.I like how each word has its own billboard section- I find the arrangement of this piece clever because its like its 4 pieces of art in one. I find that really clever!

I like the Swiss style arrangement, for instance, how the text Is facing two directions meaning that the diagonal pieces of text is being written at the same direction. I can see the contemporary Litenstein poop art culture into this imagery, despite it being abstract and full of vibrant colours. I personally love this piece! Clap and Praise to the NHS.

| here's another perspective of this piece, in Leeds 8th April 2020 Here is a link to a website about Morag bringing cheer and colour to the NHS https://www.dezeen.com/2017/02/05/morag-myerscough-bright-colour-wards-sheffield-childrens-hospital-interiors-uk/ This work by Morag is similar to some of the work I have been creating. I like to create patterns and being experimental with typography. I especially love experimenting and playing with colour! Honestly "I am like an Arty equivalent to Albert Einstein" I love Morag's abstract art considering I am one who also does create abstract art- the out of the box kind of work. For one, I find her work relatable and I can understand some of the hidden meanings to some of her work with the use of colour. I find her work inspiring and hope to add some abstract contemporary pattern work into my work also. |
