Poster Series 1

Poster designs Series 1

For this series you can see the goes about with this series of posters. After studying and researching the posters "your country needs you" and the "we need you" posters for the world wars 1 and 2 and creating the poster of the algamation of Trump and Boris, this poster was a successful idea and experiment- so I created my series of posters of a spin off from that design I created.

Here is my first series of posters

This series of posters is based on the Frontline workers. Why? because when we were stuck in Lockdown back in March/April time when the nation fell down death doors- everywhere was closed apart from Pharmacies, Hospitals, supermarkets etc- yet these brave soldiers had to continue working their everyday lives fighting COVID 19 against countries across the world they still had to do the hard work- so this series you could say is a bit of an accolade to the Key workers the ones we never thank or think of in the line of work- one thing I can say is "COVID 19 has taught the world what we take for granted and how greedy we get as an economy"

The Emergency Services

These key workers are the emergency services crew, out of all of the key workers-- these are the ones who I feel gets the least recognition for the work they do- saving lives- protecting the nation and still doing this everyday despite COVID 19 and the lockdown struggles.

Key workers

These key workers is representing the postmen and the supermarket workers.  the Since the COVID 19 outbreak and lockdown these workers still went to work everyday and have worked hard to make sure our everyday needs are met.

More key workers

These key workers is representing the train drivers and the carers for the elderly, since lockdown has come about these people have worked to make sure our everyday necessities are met.

More Key workers

These key workers is representing the bin men, the researchers and the and the bus drivers, since lockdown took the high-hat these workers  have worked hard to make sure our everyday necessities are met.

Feedback:- Feedback From Paul who suggesting on a zoom call that "Experiment further with these design ideas, by adding more humour to my imagery and to look at some more contemporary imagery.

As previously said, this idea of these posters are inspired by the artists Alfred Leete and James Montgomery Flagg.

I think this series of posters had a successful turnout. I like how the posters have the same aesthetic and created in the same format as the posters designed by Leete and Montgomery Flagg. I especially liked is the way the poster is arranged with the “Covid 19” on the top of the poster, with a small caption underneath perhaps having a slight humours aspect to it ie the post man “Letters help you” for instance... it just works for a caption on a poster. I learn when you create posters like these, you have to use imperatives (Bossy verbs) to try and sway your audience and move them into a way that intrigues them.

I also like the cartoon aesthetic to the imagery of the frontline workers- as despite they’re cartoons at the same time they’re recognisable and easy to remember.

I also like the idea of cartoon characters for this poster because it attracts the eyes of all audiences, young children seeing as the text is easy to understand and easy to read and the imagery with capture the children’s attention.  But that is not all, these posters can be aimed towards older people too because there are many posters i see in pharmacies, doctors etc telling you to wash your hands or to stand 2 metres away... social  distancing which attracts all because its a subliminal message to everybody, its basically saying we need your co-operation to keep the country standing, we are doing our bit, so you do your bit kind of thing. But i can see the elderly citizens being interested  in this design concept, purely because it is inspired by the old fashioned  “Your country needs you” poster.

Which may bring them nostalgia or makeit interesting for them to look at  by adding a more contemporary twist in the imagery by creating the cartoon characters.  Also  it’ll add the attraction to the elderly citizens are going to ins these posters easy to read as the message is simple and on point.... theres a snappy slogan, imperatives rule of three etc. which may interest varied audiences. Therefore I would say the target audience is varied. Though having said that I would say in terms of audiences across the globe’s case these posters will attract the English citizens as it is written in English but having said that, there are other countries that also speak English so even that is hard to say without seeing the bigger picture.

Not only did Alfred Leete and James Montgomery Flagg inspire my first series of posters, but Annie Atkins has inspired me also.

These are the pieces of work created by Annie Atkins, these I found was clever- I like the typographic element and wanted to try creating my series of posters following this alignment- like the three blocks of text on the bottom of the poster, on my imagery came from Annie Atkins.

The reason for Annie Atkin's inspiration for these posters is because of the alignment and arrangement of the posters, as this artist was a recommendation from Paul. She was found on Instagram and her work is not only about COVID 19 but also I liked there typographic arrangement to her work and wanted to follow the similar aesthetic onto my work also.
