Summer Project
UCA Summer Project 2020
For this project, tutors Paul and Anne game us a brief which was set on the 16th June 2020 and due for when we return to UCA in October.
This project is a research based project where in which we have to find information about COVID 19, about how it came about, factual informations, opinions, questionnaires and even theories behind COVID 19.In order to help create a series of posters to which will come together with our first project for The Second year to my BA Graphic design degree that I cannot wait to kickstart in October.
This project like the last couple of projects is of course divided into four segments:
- Motion Graphics- Animation and film 1 second everyday using the mobile app.
- Experimentation- Sketch books, ideas practise, trial and error.
- Self Development- planning and keeping a blog/diary or journal.
- Analysis- evaluating and studying own work and artist research.
For my view of the project brief, I thought it was quite an interesting brief as its to do with our current situation dealing with "The New Norm" because of Lockdown and COVID 19. So it is easily relatable, only thing I can see happening is having the feeling that this topic choice can get quite hard hitting and can get quite morbid in some retrospect because of it being about something we are living on. Though I can see some interesting ideas developing from this brief and may turn out to be quite exciting.
Alongside this brief we were also issued a LIVE brief which is an optional brief which is to take part in a exhibition competition from Poland which is a yearly thing, to create Bill-Boards and art based on the current affairs and situations and in this case is to do with the Pandemic and COVID 19. This competition is called "Art Moves 2020" which if you get into the top 10 your work gets put on a billboard- the deadline for this competition was due back on 23rd of July 2020. You were able to submit a maximum of 3 pieces of work for this competition.

For this brief on the other hand, I think I could take on the challenge to participate in this competition just to see what happens and to take a step outside my comfort zone, I am not worried for winning or losing as as I am still quite shy about letting my artwork flow as in I am still shy about showing my artwork off. Fearing of failure, rejection and disappointment or coming across as too cocky or arrogant. This in which is something I would personally like to work on- is to try and surpass my comfort zone and take on challenges and exciting opportunities without getting negative thoughts and fearing the worse.
