Paper-chain Video

Paper-chain

With this entry it's going to be about the Paper Chain messages- which is basically a trend when the world was in lockdown where people who maybe workmates or school class mates videoed themselves opening a message which may say something like "Stay Home" or "Stay Safe" etc. then scrunching up the piece of papered passing it onto the next person- almost like a Pass the Bomb kind of thing but instead its like here's a message... Pass it on! To give people motivation and to make them feel better and to try and help lower the mental health issues.

So I decided to do one, with myself and a couple close friends of mine who in which I will be thanking now, Thankyou to the help from Kimberly Jeffs and Sanjita Guring. Thank you to you both for your time to help me create this art!

Here's my superstars Photographed from a feature from the Mini film.

"I liked the idea of being part of that Paper Chain Video as it was a collaboration with friends and great way to be a part of something that spreads positivity" ~ Kimberly

My Video

"For me actually making this video felt really good.
I enjoyed making a video with my closet friends because it was like we were reunited even though we were miles apart- it's like we are never alone. It was a lot of fun I love the idea about the video spreading some positivity when the shit hit the fan". Saff

The Paper-Chain Message
(Short Film 🍿)

With the makings of the film I asked my friends, Kimberly and Sanjita to film themselves for me unwrapping a message and got them too show the camera and scrunch it up again and do like a pass the bomb kind of thing to help spread some positivity in the tough times of lockdown and the pandemic. I also filmed mine. Then I put the videos together on Premiere Pro into a short film and then filmed it on my phone so you can see the movie on Blogger.

'I enjoyed putting the movie together because after getting my friends to film themselves and watching it back shed some positivity and made me extra eager to put this sequence together to create a miniature masterpiece. It was a lot of fun!" ~ Saff

Here's some words from the performers and the artists in this movie about Lockdown.

"Lockdown for me didn't affect me too much as I was already at home, but it was very confusing at times as you didn't know what you could or couldn't do, the rules weren't very clear, I suppose it was nice at first to just relax and do stuff at home for a change but it got boring after a while. As everything was closed and you couldn't meet with friends and job hunting was incredibly stressful. I enjoyed those moments when we would stand outside and clap for the NHS as it was a change to be a little but social and it challenged myself to do some artwork  and gardening gave me something to do but I'm glad now that places are open and we can meet people again. Just hope we don't go into another lockdown." ~ Kimberly.

"For me lockdown didn't draw any stress with me to be fully honest because I used that time in my room doing the final project of Year 1 so I was quite happy.  As for lockdown its self after finishing the project it was nice to have some time to myself to chill and to spend time with family and really made the most of their company as we are always busy- it was nice to have some family time. It was the LONGEST summer holiday I've ever had for 6 whole months!!! I also loved the communal clap on the Thursdays for the NHS it was just nice to see the nation standing together sharing some light and positivity. Although, It was getting boring at points where everyday was Groundhog Day... but you just gotta take each day and it comes and treat everyday like its your last. I was happy on the day Boris eased the restrictions and we were able to see friends. But I hope we don't end up seeing Lockdown 2- I knew there would be the second wave but I hope it doesn't cause as much chaos as the First peak did." ~Saff

"I felt strange I had just begun to adapt to life here in Korea meeting new people, trying out new hobbies when suddenly everything had to be stopped. I could no longer do anything outside of my house so for me I felt lonelier at home as I live alone. I still worked everyday but only meeting other Korean people at school sometimes made me feel really lonely as there are still some language barrier. At that time I was thankful for the internet but I also started to think this is a time for me to use this slow paced life to be creative, to write, to make art or music so these days I feel a lot better.
I think we are all adapting to the new way of life so it doesn't feel as lonely anymore and I have definitely learned the meaning of patience." ~Sanjita
